This is my DT (two piece double telescoping) lightsaber Luke Skywalker. I was able to find one totally mint in the Early Bird kit Kenner bag at The Earth in Cincinnati. It’s a great figure because of the drastic difference in the lightsaber. It’s pretty hard to find also. Almost all of them came in the Early Bird kits with a green gun Chewbacca, original Princess Leia, and original R2-D2. Some of the DT lightsaber Lukes came on 12 back cards. Very few of them though. Only about 15 still on the card are known to exist. Most all of the DT lightsaber Lukes came in the Early Bird kits in the mail. Originally there were about 25,000 of them. That may be high though, but it’s an approximation. Many of them have been lost, thrown away, or broken. Probably about 10,000 of them remain now a days, and many out there are bent or cracked. Finding a mint one in the Early Bird bag was really hard, but it was an big extra way I used to authenticate my DT lightsaber Ben Obi-Wan Kenobiand DT lightsaber Darth Vaders figures years later, as only the authentic ones have pieces that will exactly interchange with each other.

Recently, I was able to obtain both the vintage POTF coin and Mark Hamill’s autograph. My good friend Marty had a mint Luke Skywalker Tatooine coin that he decided to sell, so I decided to buy it from him in early 2007, to go with my this Luke Skywalker original figure with Double Telescoping lightsaber. While the DT Luke figure never came with a coin, since it came out seven years before the POTF coins were released, as the most valuable and rare vintage Luke Skywalker figure, it makes sense to pair the coin with it. Later I saw that Mark Hamill was going to be appearing at the Celebration Japan convention in Tokyo in August of 2008. Another good friend of mine Jeff was going to be going to that show, and he was nice enough to get the autograph for me, along with the three from Tim Rose. This is a really great autograph to have, and like the coin, it makes sense to put it with the rarest vintage Luke figure. Because of the size of the autographed photo, I scanned and cropped the part of the picture with the autograph to put in the picture with the figure and coin. The coin and autograph really display well with the figure. I’m really glad I was able to get them from Marty and Jeff to go with the figure.
