This is my VC (vinyl caped) Jawa. The vinyl cape was replaced with a cloth pull over cape because Kenner thought it was more aesthetically pleasing that way. And it is, but in doing that they created a fantastic and legendary figure variation. In fact, the VC Jawa could be the most famous and wanted released figure variation made. Many have been marked up, torn up, lost, or thrown away over the years so there are probably no more than about 8,000 remaining, carded and loose, out of over 20,000 originally manufactured. It is pretty hard to find mint authentic ones since they were all made over 25 years ago. Unfortunately, they are heavily faked, but it’s not difficult at all to tell an authentic one once you have seen, handled, and studied a real one closely. This one is very mint, and has been authenticated by many collectors. No marks, holes, or tears. It’s in really great shape. Before I purchased it, it was authenticated by Gus Lopez, who by the way has a fantastic web site of vintage Star Wars toys and prototypes, called The Star Wars Collectors Archive. Great information and pictures. I got this VC Jawa from Brian Semling, when his pricing was more reasonable. He sent it off to be authenticated by Gus Lopez some time before. Brian has a web site called Brian’s Toys, for reference information. I bought two extra VC Jawas later on from two different people in different states just to verify its authenticity further. All three are identical in every way. It’s a great figure variation to have given the history behind it.
