WHIEEEEERP!

In 1998, seems like forever now, I was fortunate enough to get the J-slot rocket Fett I have in my collection today, and decided it would be fun to make a web site with pictures and detailed information about it, and the other vintage Star Wars figures and toys I have. At the time, there were very few sites that had detailed information and good pictures of them. Today there are thousands, but back then, not so many. In spite of the fact that all the information on this page is readily available on the Internet, save some pictures I have taken at different places, I have continued to update and add information and images to this section, simply because it’s fun having all the pictures and images in one easy to navigate place. Even with married life and work, there’s still always time to adjust the site here and there over time. I’m also greatly blessed that my wife likes the Star Wars movies very much, and doesn’t mind my figure hobby at all, and she even adds to my collection on birthdays and Christmas. Can’t ask for more than that I don’t believe. As the years have gone by, this site really has become a utility site for many things other than just vintage Star Wars toys. Pictures from the movies, props and art from exhibits, trivia, modern toy pictures, and other things. I get at least a few emails and guestbook messages a month from people saying how much they enjoy it as a resource, and I was surprised to learn how many people on E-bay use it for detailed information on rarer items they are selling. Even more surprising is that people can find this page at all, what with the thousands of Star Wars pages on the Internet today.

I was born in 1971, and saw the first Star Wars movie in the Galaxy theater in San Antonio Texas in 1977 when I was 5, then seeing The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi in theaters in 1980 and 1983 when they came out. They’re some of my earliest and fondest memories. Along with getting and playing with the Star Wars figures and toys for so many years when I was a kid. If not for all of that, and the fact that I really love the vintage Star Wars figures and toys because of all the wonderful nostalgia and watching the movies on VHS many times when they came out, and many years of fun I had playing with the figures and toys as a kid, and then many years later, finally actually getting the rocket firing Boba Fett figure I never got as a kid and always wanted, I never would have made the page. Now that many years have passed, I'm amazed that all but a few of my childhood figures are still in great shape with all the accessories. I’m equally amazed and thankful that I never traded, got rid of, sold, or otherwise lost my childhood Star Wars toys over the years. I played with them so much for so many years, but they held up surprisingly well, and I only had to replace a few to have a mint loose collection. In the past couple years I’ve almost completed my collection, including several extremely rare figures. It was very hard to find about 40 of them mint and complete, but I wanted to have a totally mint and complete loose collection, so I managed to save up and get the rarest ones, and for many years I’m sure, will be following up with carded vintage figures, one carded vintage figure on it’s original first release card of the ones that came carded, for every loose figure in my collection. That’s a much harder and more time consuming goal, but it’s equally as fun and satisfying. I’ve also collected all of the Episode II, Unified Star Wars, Power Of The Jedi, Epidode I, Power Of The Force 2, Expanded Universe, and Shadows Of The Empire figures and displayed pictures of them as well. I wanted to have all the figures of characters that were around before and after the Trilogy movies. Pictures of my vintage play-sets and vehicles, and 12" figures, and Die-Cast vehicles are also displayed on this page.

The Prequels are what makes my collecting so much fun to me now. I’ve saw Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Episode II: Attack Of The Clones, and Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith many times in theaters and DVD, and I’ve always thought they were absolutely fantastic. It’s nice to see that there can still be some movies with substance and originality that are suspenseful and clean for kids can still break box office records and end up in the top 15 of the all time top grossing movies. There are always critics of TPM, AOTC, and ROTS though, and those who don’t like them, claiming that they’re racist because of the Jar-Jar character (which most children really love and think is funny), and the made up accents of some alien characters, who happen to be from other countries and were speaking in their natural accents, or for their opinion that the acting is bad, or supposed plot holes, or some other subjective opinions. But there are always people that get too obsessed with things and make more of them than they are, or don’t enjoy them because they have their own predetermined expectations and can’t accept anything other than what they wanted to see. TPM, AOTC, and ROTS are great movies and stories with a really great, intense, and captivating plot and story line, and the three of them fit in very nicely with the original Trilogy to show the whole story. It’s also a great thing that they’re so clean, with no gore or vulgarity, no nudity or sexual innuendo, and has the same moral fiber of the original Trilogy, which precious few other blockbusters, and even many "kids" movies, the past few years can attempt to say. All that, and the fantastic plot and storyline is why they are now, at the very least, three of the best movies of all time. Those that attack them I believe take them way too seriously, and made the mistake of creating their own preconceived notions over the 16 year wait for them, of what they should be like. Fortunately I did not, and I was able to enjoy all three of them immensely, as though I was a kid again from an open minded standpoint like a child, while also thoroughly enjoying the deep plot and gripping story line, with all the fantastic characters. My only disappointment is that there will be no more new movies, other than the possible hour long TV drama that might be televised sometime in 2007 or 2008. Since Lucas has said he would not make Episodes VII, VIII, or IX, showing what happened after Return Of The Jedi, or let anyone else do them, the Saga will stop with six movie. I was very pleased with the new ones just like the old ones, and they were better than I thought they would be.

As for my collection, there are 10 very rare near mint vintage figures that are the centerpieces in my collection, beyond even the carded vintage figures I have. Please click HERE to see a list of just those 10, and links to pictures of and information about them. All 10 of those figures are also listed on the "Vintage Loose Trilogy Figures" page, along with the other 122 in my collection, which can be accessed by clicking on the "My Collection" link on the main page. Also, I have 88 near mint complete duplicates of some of the 132 figure types in my collection. Most of those 88 duplicates are ones I had as a child also. Duplicate figures, along with the individually displayed figure of each type, are displayed also, and can be seen by clicking the (2x) , which appears at the end of each figures name, and indicates how many of that type figure I have. I also have all 35 vintage coins that came with the figures on the POTF (Power Of The Force) 85/86 cards, and three that did not come with the figures. They are displayed with their appropriate figures picture. Coins are indicated by a © symbol at the end of each figures name. I’ve also been able to get the autographs of many of the actors that played characters in the Trilogy movies. I got them all from different toy shows and conventions I’ve attended. I keep them in the cases with the figures. Autographs are indicated by a @ symbol, also at the end of each figures name. Both the vintage POTF coins and autographs are displayed in the pictures with the appropriate figures. Just go back to the main page, and click on the "My Collection" link in the middle of the page for a sections list, then click the figure section banner you want to see the list of. From there, scroll down and click on the link with the name of the figure you want to see. I've taken high resolution pictures of all 132 individual figure types that I have, as well as the figures in all the other sections.

At the same time I was paying off the rocket Fett, a DT Vader surfaced through Tom Derby, in October of 1998. Quite inconvenient timing, but it was a neat mint one with no damage or wear, and he had originally discovered and authenticated that particular one several years earlier. The collector he sold it to, then sold it back to Tom in 1998, and I was fortunate enough to be next on Tom’s list of collectors wanting authentic DT Vaders, so he offered it to me. Since he knew about this one as early as 1996, and the reproductions of DT sabers were very crude back then, it seemed foolish to pass up an authentic one in near mint condition. Then, in early 2003, nearly five years after getting my rocket Fett and DT Vader, after years of hunting and waiting, I was finally able to assemble a truly complete loose vintage figure collection, when an authentic C-9+ Double Telescoping lightsaber Ben Kenobi figure came available, from a collector friend who got it from the original owner in 2002. I had given up on being able to get an authentic one, because there are so few of them now a days, likely less than a dozen that are known of, and many of them, as with the DT Vaders, have only one of the two authentic pieces, or one of the pieces is broken or cracked or bent out of shape or discolored, or a combination of those types of wear. Beyond the vintage loose collection, I also got one of each of the new Prequel figures MOMC over the years as they continued to come out over the years, so that I can expand my figure collection somewhat. And since 2004, and for many years to come, I am adding vintage carded figures to my collection. I am limiting myself to carded vintage figures that are "punched", that is, don’t have the small punch tab present where they would hang on pegs in the store. But I am getting ones with no bends or tears or discoloration or sticker damage to the cards, and no cuts or dents or yellowing in the bubbles, and no lifting of the bubbles from the cards. Not impossible, but difficult. I am also only getting only the first carded figures that each figure came on, the "Premier" cards. One carded vintage figure for every loose one in my vintage collection, of the ones that came carded that is. By getting only the first released versions of the carded vintage figures, that’s 117 to obtain, instead of over 500 with the various cards that the same figures came on.

Apart from my collection, there is a link to a list of extra figures and authentic accessories that I have for sale. I picked up many near mint figures complete with authentic accessories over the years, replacing some others I got earlier in the 90s that weren’t as near mint, so that now I have many extras. After a while, it was evident I really needed to sell some of those off to make space. So if you’re looking for any figures or accessories for your collection, please go HERE to check that list, and e-mail me if you are interested in any of them. There are some extra modern figures there also. If you have any comments, ideas, or suggestions for this page, let me know. It is intended to be as user friendly and interesting as possible, and I’m always trying to think of a new section to add to the main page. There are several Star Wars midis to listen to, pictures of characters and ships from all the movies to look at, pictures from The Magic Of Myth exhibit and the Star Tours ride at Disney World, and my favorite links to other pages. Please feel free to take any of the pictures of the figures for your own private use, but please do not use them in auctions, and ask before you take special pictures or animated gifs, text information, or midis where someone else was mentioned, because they are posted with permission of others. Everything else that was not borrowed with permission of someone else I did myself. If you like this page, please place a link to it on your page so more people can see it. There is a banner for my site on top of the Favorite Links Page HERE. Thank you for coming and enjoy all the pictures and information. Please feel free to E-mail at rocketfett@yahoo.com anytime with any questions, comments, or suggestions, or to submit a site that you think would be great for people to find on my Favorite Links Page. I’m always interested in fun new Star Wars sites to browse.

And finally, please keep the collecting hobby fun, the way it was meant to be. Don't feed the scalpers. Buy what you keep, keep what you buy. Unless you’re like me and for several years, couldn’t pass by a really good near mint and complete vintage figure without buying it, and eventually have to sell some for space. Like I always tell people, Star Wars figures are like M&Ms. And some of us have a bad sweet tooth. Special thanks to all the people that signed the guestbook. Thank you for visiting this page and please come back again.

Thank you very much for visiting my home page and looking at my collection. Please tell your friends about it, and come visit again.
