These are the first three Star Wars figures that I ever got. I got them in early 1978 when they first came out, when I was about six and a half. I got all three of these at the same time, and then got the rest later on. I played with them a LOT. Took them to school, church, over to friends, out to dinner, and lots of other places, so they have a good amount of wear. The Chewbacca is in pretty good shape. The limbs are tight too so that’s amazing, and he still has his original black gun, and that’s a miracle considering how much play he got. The C-3PO has some paint wear on the hands and feet, and scratches in a few places. The head and limbs were VERY loose so I got some gold thread and wrapped it in the joints so that it would stand if I wanted it to. That worked great to tighten them up just a bit. The R2-D2 was basically destroyed. The head was scratched, the tab broken so it wouldn’t click, the sticker gone, one leg missing, the other broken, and there was clay on it from when I played with it. So I restored it. I cleaned all the clay and gunk off of it, painted the head silver where it was worn, glued the tab in the head so it clicks again, got a broken off leg from one of my later R2-D2s that was in bad shape, and glued it, with the other leg I still had, to the pegs so they would both turn again, and put a reproduction sticker on it. It looks almost new and displays well with the other three. All three of them are replaced now with totally mint ones, but I’ll always keep my first three, and the others from my childhood. They’re too special and sentimental to ever get rid of.
